Tyson Chandler to sign with Knicks

Free agent center Tyson Chandler will sign with the New York Knicks, the coveted big man told an ESPN radio station Friday.

"It just really happened over the last, like, 48 hours," Chandler told ESPN 103.3's "Ben and Skin Show."

The New York Times also reported that Chandler's pact with the Knicks will be in the vicinity of $58 million over four seasons.

Chandler, 29, played an integral role in the Dallas Mavericks capturing their first-ever NBA championship last season. He averaged 10.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game, providing a legitimate interior defensive presence which previous Dirk Nowitzki-led Mavericks teams had lacked.

Chandler will now be paired with forwards Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony, forming one of the most versatile and well-rounded frontcourts in the NBA.

"I just think the future of the team, being able to play alongside Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and the young talent we have, I feel like it puts us contention over the next four or five years," Chandler continued.
