St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis Rams claimed quarterback Kellen Clemens off waivers Wednesday and placed starting offensive guard Jacob Bell on injured reserve.
Clemens was released without taking a snap by the Houston Texans on Tuesday, two weeks after he was signed as a backup.
He started nine of a possible 25 games for the New York Jets between 2006-10, passing for 1,686 yards and five touchdowns with 11 interceptions.
Bell, who started 12 games this season, was placed on IR with a knee injury.
The Rams also released cornerback Nate Ness and promoted cornerback Chris Smith from the practice squad. They added running back Chase Reynolds and quarterback Matt Gutierrez to the practice squad.
