Justin Rose and Fredrik Jacobson both withdrew from this week's Dubai World Championship on Tuesday.

Rose opted out of the season-ending event on the European Tour due to his wife's impending childbirth and Jacobson is partnering with Greg Norman at this week's Franklin Templeton Shootout in Florida.

While a normal event would likely see two replacements, the limited-field tournament was instead reduced to 58 players.

Rose, 31, won the BMW Championship this season. He has seven career victories between the European and PGA Tours, but hasn't won in Europe in four years.

Jacobson has three European Tour victories, all coming in 2003, and finally broke through for his first PGA Tour win at the Travelers Championship in June.
