Woods wins for first time since scandal

Tiger Woods collected his first win of any kind since the 2009 car accident that triggered a personal scandal Sunday at the Chevron World Challenge.

It took 749 days, 107 weeks and 27 starts, by far the longest span in between victories for Woods.

His last win came at the 2009 Australian Masters. Twelve days later, Woods crashed his car just outside his house and that led to confessions of infidelity and ultimately divorce.

Woods lost sponsorships, but more importantly, he lost tournaments. In those 27 starts since the scandal, Woods only posted eight top 10s, so his game clearly suffered in the trying times.

Woods switched coaches. He fired his long-time caddy Steve Williams.

Now, Woods is back in the winner's circle and he did it in impressive fashion.

He birdied the last two holes Sunday to shoot a three-under 69. Woods bested overnight leader Zach Johnson by just one stroke at Sherwood Country Club.
