The Nashville Predators were able to get back into the win to-back victories tonight against the Calgary Flames at the Saddledome.
The Predators ended a four-game slide with a 2-1 victory at Edmonton on Monday thanks to goals from Nick Spaling and Shea Weber. Anders Lindback stopped 17 shots to earn his first win of the year for Nashville, which is 1-2 on a five- game road trip and 7-5-1 as the guest this season.
"It's nice to be able to contribute," Spaling said. "I think we are a team that scores by committee so when we can help out that's great. We want to continue to do that, that's our game to do, put pucks to the net and be able to contribute offensively."
Predators forward Blake Geoffrion left the game in the second period with an upper-body injury and is questionable for tonight. Defenseman Francis Bouillon is expected to miss tonight's game because of a groin problem. Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne is expected to be back in the crease this evening.
Nashville will close out the trek Thursday at Vancouver.
Calgary is back home and will play two straight games as the host versus the Predators and Blue Jackets. It is 4-5-1 at home and currently last in the Northwest Division standings.
The Flames ended a three-game losing streak and won for the second time in six tries with a convincing 5-2 triumph at Minnesota on Sunday thanks to goals from T.J. Brodie, Mark Giordano, Jarome Iginla, Lee Stempniak and Alex Tanguay. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 19-of-21 shots in the victory.
"Everybody responded, nobody's happy where we're at in the standings, nobody's giving up," Iginla said. "It's a boost that we need."
Calgary went 1-3 on the four-game road trip. Defenseman Scott Hannan (leg) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game.
Nashville blanked the Flames, 2-0, on Oct. 22 this season at the Saddledome behind Rinne's 21st career shutout. Rinne made 33 saves and both Niclas Bergfors and Sergei Kostitsyn scored goals for the Predators, who snapped a four-game losing streak in the series with the win.
The Flames have won 10 of the past 13 meetings with Nashville.
