Corinthians moves a step closer to securing title

Sao Paulo, Brazil – Corinthians is just one win away from 0 win at Figueirense on Sunday.

Liedson netted the lone goal of the contest in the 68th minute to keep Corinthians two points clear of second-place Vasco da Gama, which needed a last-gasp goal from Bernardo to claim a 2-1 win at third-place Fluminense.

The defending champions appeared to have snatched a point at home when Fred's goal in the 83rd minute canceled out the opener from Vasco's Alecsandro.

But even after Leandro was hit with a red card for Vasco in the 87th minute, Bernardo managed to net the winner a few minutes later to keep his team's title hopes alive.

Corinthians can clinch the title with a win at home against Palmeiras on Sunday, while Vasco will host Flamengo.

Ronaldinho helped Flamengo to a 1-0 win over Internacional as he scored on the stroke of halftime, while Gilson's goal in the 80th minute helped America Mineiro to a 2-1 win over Paranaense in a battle of bottom-three sides.

Two goals from Andre Felipe gave Atletico Mineiro a 4-0 victory over Botafogo, Ceara and Cruzeiro played to a 2-2 draw, last-place Avai finished its match with nine men as Jeci's goal in the 84th minute gave Coritiba a 1-0 win, Gremio and Goianiense finished 2-2, Palmeiras used a goal from Marcos Assuncao in the 55th minute to slip past Sao Paulo 1-0 and Santos played to a 1-1 draw with Bahia Neymar canceled out an early goal from Bahia's Rodrigo Souza.
