Manchester, England – Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero both 1 win over Newcastle.
Balotelli struck the first blow in the battle of unbeatens as he converted in the 41st minute for City, which used the early goal to take control and cruise to its 11th win in 12 EPL games.
Micah Richards followed the early goal in the 44th to push City's lead to two goals before half, and Aguero was on target from 12 yards in the 72nd as City maintained its five-point lead atop the Premiership.
Dan Gosling scored a consolation goal for Newcastle, which had seven victories and four draws from its first 11 games and slipped nine points off the pace.
Balotelli nearly ended the stalemate after 30 minutes but his snap header was pushed over the bar by Newcastle goalie Tim Krul. The opener came 11 minutes later, as a handball by Ryan Taylor set up Balotelli's easy conversion.
Taylor also played a role in the second goal, as his defensive mistake on the edge of the area gave Richards the ball and a clear shot at goal and the City man converted to the right post to double the lead before the break.
Hatem Ben Arfa found the post as Newcastle looked to get back in the game, and Fabricio Coloccini struck a volley wide right as the visitors wasted another chance.
Then a foolish challenge from Ben Arfa set up the second penalty, and Aguero picked out the bottom right - just like Balotelli - for his 10th goal of the season.
Gosling scored the final goal in the 89th, but it couldn't spoil City's win.
