Van Gaal returns to Ajax as club director

Amsterdam, Netherlands – Former Ajax coach Louis van Gaal will return to the club in the role of director, it was announced on Wednesday.

Van Gaal guided Ajax to the 1995 Champions League title as a coach while also winning an Eredivisie crown with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

The 60-year-old Van Gaal also guided Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title and an appearance in the Champions League final during the 2009-10 campaign before being fired shortly before the end of the last season.

Rik van den Boog held the position of director at Ajax before leaving the club in June, while it was also announced on Wednesday that Danny Blind would take over as technical director.
