According to the PGA Tour, Snedeker has a degenerative issue in his right hip. The surgery on Snedeker's labrum was performed in Vail, Colorado, by Dr. Marc Philippon, who has operated on several other athletes.
"I am certainly disappointed I will not be able to fulfill some obligations I had ahead of me during the next few months," Snedeker said in a statement. "However, I realize I needed to get this done now so that I can get back to competition for the 2012 season. Having this procedure is only going to help me in the long run."
Snedeker collected his second career win earlier this year at the Heritage. The victory was one of seven top-10 finishes for the 30-year-old on 2011.
