Braves pick up option on Hinske, not McLouth

The Atlanta Braves picked up a club option on outfielder Eric Hinske for next season and declined their option on outfielder Nate McLouth.

The 34-year-old Hinske played in 117 games in 2011, batting .233 with 10 home runs and 28 RBI. His 10 round-trippers tied for third-most in the National League among batters with 240 at-bats or fewer.

McLouth hit .228 with four homers and 16 RBI in an injury-shortened 2011 season.

Acquired by the Braves from the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 3, 2009, McLouth played in 250 games for Atlanta over two-plus seasons, hitting .229 with 44 doubles, 21 home runs and 76 RBI.
