Cardinals' Freese named World Series MVP

ST. LOUIS (Reuters) - David Freese was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the World Series on Friday after leading the St. Louis Cardinals to victory over the Texas Rangers in the Fall Classic.

The 28-year-old third baseman had seven RBI in the World Series and struck the winning home run in Game Six before the Cardinals went on to beat the Rangers 6-2 in the seventh and deciding game of Major League Baseball's championship series.
