Cook was booked into the Hennepin County jail early Saturday for allegedly attacking his girlfriend in a jealous rage. He was released Tuesday on $40,000 bail.
The Star-Tribune, which cites the criminal complaint, reports that a neighbor reported yelling and screaming from Cook's town home shortly after 1:40 a.m. local time. Police showed up to the 6400 block of Regency Lane and found Cook's girlfriend sitting on the living room floor, crying and holding the right side of her head with a bloody nose.
Cook found out his girlfriend of 10 months had spoken to a past boyfriend. He threw her onto the bed and choked her. The girlfriend briefly got free before Cook struck her on the side of the head, sending her into a wall.
The incident continued into the living room, where Cook again choked her.
The girlfriend's identity has yet to be disclosed.
Cook missed Sunday's game against the Packers, and his status with the team is now in jeopardy.
Cook turned to Twitter after his release from jail and wrote:
"My apologies to the fans! Vikings ownership, coaching staff, my teammates and friends and family!!"
Cook will appear in court on Wednesday.
