Free agent forward James McFadden has returned to Everton after he was released from his contract by Birmingham at the end of last season.

The 28-year-old spent five seasons at Goodison Park, making over 100 appearances, before departing for the Blues in 2008.

Birmingham was relegated at the end of last season and McFadden was released from his contract, with Wolverhampton and Celtic reportedly expressing interest as well as the Toffees.

McFadden has scored 15 goals during his international career and been capped over 45 times by Scotland.
