Jordyn Wieber became just the sixth American around title at the gymnastics world championships.

Wieber edged Victoria Komova by just 0.033 points Thursday, overcoming the Russian with a strong floor routine.

The 16-year-old from DeWitt, Michigan, performed second-to-last and scored 14.800, while Komova went last and earned a 14.333 to fall into second place.

China's Yao Jinnan captured the bronze medal and American Alexandra Raisman of Needham, Massachusetts, finished fourth after posting the highest score in the floor exercise.

The U.S. also won the women's team title on Tuesday despite not having Alicia Sacramone, part of the silver medal-winning team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and last year's world champion in the vault.

Sacramone suffered a torn Achilles tendon in training last week.
