Olympians Brady Ellison (Glendale, Ariz.) and Jennifer robin matches on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 to determine their ranking. Ellison, the number one ranked archer in the world, is joined by Jake Kaminski (Edgewater, Fla.) in the top two, while Miranda Leek (Des Moines, Iowa) trails Nichols.

A KNOCKOUT WEEKEND

U.S. boxers went a combined 6-0 over the weekend to improve to 11-1 following a 4-0 day on Oct. 1 at the AIBA Men's World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. Top performers from the weekend were welterweight Errol Spence (Desoto, Texas), light heavyweight Marcus Browne (Staten Island, N.Y.), flyweight Rau'shee Warren (Cincinnati, Ohio), super heavyweight Lenroy "Cam" Thompson (Lenexa, Kan.), lightweight Jose Ramirez (Avenal, Calif.) and middleweight Jesse Hart (Philadelphia, Pa.).

BASKETBALL

The U.S. Women's National Team got off to a 2-0 start in its five-game European tour following a 77-48 win against Italian league champion Famila Schio on Sept. 30 and a 78-68 victory against Ros Casares Valencia on Oct. 1. Five U.S. players scored in double digits in the first game, while Swin Cash's (McKeesport, Pa.) 17 points led Team USA past its Spanish opponent.

CANOE & KAYAK

Caroline Queen (Darnestown, Md.) in women's kayak, Benn Fraker (Peachtree City, Ga.) in men's canoe, and Hailey Thompson (Stevens Point, Wis.) in women's canoe were among the crowned national champions at the 2011 USA Canoe/Kayak Slalom National Championships in Bryson City, N.C., which ran from Oct. 1-2.

CYCLING

Two Americans came away winners of the 2011 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series on Oct. 1. Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev.) claimed victory in the elite men's main, while Arielle Martin (Pleasant Grove, Utah) won the women's final. Brooke Crain (Visalia, Calif.) joined Martin on the podium with the silver in the women's event and David Herman (Wheat Ridge, Colo.) escaped a finals crash to collect the fourth medal of the day for the U.S.

The 2011 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships culminated Oct. 2 with 18 national champions crowned at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The nation's best track cyclists contested the Madison, men's time trial and women's team sprint, while paracyclists competed in the time trial.

FENCING

U.S. fencers won 14 medals at the 2011 Veteran World Championships, which ran from Sept. 28-Oct. 2 in Porec, Croatia. The medal haul tied the best result ever for a U.S. team at the event.

SITTING VOLLEYBALL

The U.S. Women's Sitting Team won the gold medal at the Parapan American Zonal Championship on Oct. 1 after downing Brazil, 25-13, 25-12, 25-15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

VOLLEYBALL

The U.S. women's beach volleyball team of Emily Day (Torrance, Calif.) and Heather Hughes (Fallbrook, Calif.) advanced to the semifinals of the NORCECA Beach Circuit event on Oct. 1 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Meanwhile the U.S. men's team of Andy McGuire (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Avery Drost (Hawthorne, Calif.) finished pool play at 2-2, but lost in the first round of single-elimination.

WRESTLING

Brandon Precin (Evanston, Ill.) at 55 kg/121 lbs. and Kyle Ruschell (Madison, Wis.) at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. each took fifth on Oct. 1 at the Dmitri Korkin Memorial International in Yakutsk, Russia. Both finished with 2-2 records.
