Jets agree to terms with first-round pick

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Jets have agreed to terms on an level contract with center Mark Scheifele, who was selected by the club with the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Scheifele appeared in five preseason games for the Jets and led the team in scoring with eight points, having posted four goals with four assists.

The 18-year-old Kitchener, Ontario native recorded 22 goals and 53 assists for 75 points in 66 games for Barrie of the Ontario Hockey League last season. He led all OHL rookies in assists.
