"I think for now, it's just week-to-week. I got an MRI on it, and it was a low-grade high-ankle sprain," Gagner said on Tuesday, while standing in front of reporters with a hard plastic boot on his foot. "I went into the boards kind of heavy and tweaked it. I'm going to try and get back as fast as possible."
It's another stroke of bad luck for the 22-year-old, who was forced to miss the remainder of last season after having surgery to repair a severed tendon in his left hand in early March.
Signed to a two-year deal in August of 2010, the 21-year-old tallied 15 goals and 42 points in 68 games, but was a minus-17 on an Edmonton club which finished dead last in the NHL.
