ARIZONA: Ka'Deem Carey literally carried the Wildcats on his back to a stunning, 42-16 rout of the No. 5 Oregon Ducks. The win was the first for the Wildcats against a top-five team since 2007, when they topped No. 2 Oregon. The win also ended a two-game losing streak and pushed Arizona to 7-4 overall and 4-4 in Pac-12 play. Carey had a huge game with four touchdowns and 206 yards on 48 carries, the most by a single rusher this season. The showing pushed Carey into the all-time lead for rushing yards (3,913) and total touchdowns (49) for the program. B.J. Denker threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 19-of-22 passes. He also rushed for 102 yards from under center. Thanks to Denker and Carey the Wildcats rushed for over 300 yards and moved to 5-0 this season when reaching that many rushing yards. Arizona's defense also forced a pair of interceptions from Oregon's Marcus Mariota, who had not been picked off this season. The Wildcats also forced and recovered two fumbles. The Wildcats close out the regular season next Saturday with the Duel in the Desert against Arizona State.
ARIZONA STATE: The Sun Devils are the Pac-12 South Division champions after they held on to top UCLA, 38-33, at the Rose Bowl on Saturday. The Sun Devils improved to 9-2 overall and 7-1 in league play with their sixth straight win. With a game lead over USC and UCLA, two teams they have beaten this year already, and a game to play, the Sun Devils have guaranteed themselves a division crown. Arizona State scored the opening touchdown on a seven-yard run from Taylor Kelly and finished with 35 points in the first half. Arizona State is 20-4 when scoring first under Todd Graham. Kelly finished with 225 yards and a touchdown through the air on 20-of-27 passing and also rushed for a team-high 99 yards and a score. Kelly became just the second quarterback in program history to throw for 3,000 yards in multiple seasons. Marion Grice rushed for 95 yards on 18 carries and added 72 receiving yards on seven catches. Jaelen Strong had 91 receiving yards and a touchdown on six receptions. The Sun Devils had nine sacks in the game, led by three from Chris Young. Arizona State closes out the regular season at home against rival Arizona next weekend.
CALIFORNIA: A miserable year mercifully came to an end for California on Saturday as the Golden Bears were trampled, 63-13, by rival Stanford on the road. The loss was the 10th straight for the Golden Bears, who finished the season without a win in the Pac-12 or against an FBS program. Jared Goff threw for 194 yards on 10-of-19 passing and also threw a touchdown before leaving at the end of the first half due to a shoulder injury. Goff moved to first in the single-season passing yards list at California (3,508) in the game. The Golden Bears also set a school record for passing yards in a single season with 3,977 topping the mark of 3,705 set in 2003. Zach Kline finished the game at quarterback and threw for 115 yards and an interception on 8-of-15 passing. Richard Rodgers brought in five passes for a season-high 125 yards, including a 62-yard effort on Goff's final pass of the game. Michael Barton had a career-high 13 tackles and the only sack for California, which allowed 603 total yards to the Cardinal.
COLORADO: A late rally wasn't enough as Colorado was defeated, 47-29, at home by the USC Trojans. The loss ended the Buffaloes' slim bowl chances as they are now 4-7 overall and 1-7 in league play with a game against Utah next weekend left on the schedule. Paul Richardson caught eight passes for 88 yards and a touchdown in the setback. Richardson set a single-season mark for Colorado with his 79th catch of the season after already breaking the single- season record for receiving yards last week. Sefo Liufau threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns, but completed just 17-of-33 pass attempts and was also intercepted once. Nelson Spruce brought in four passes for 52 yards and a late touchdown. Michael Adkins II was the leading rusher for the Buffaloes with 63 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Jered Bell returned a fumble 31 yards for a touchdown in the beginning of the third quarter. Colorado has returned five fumbles for touchdowns this season, the most since 2004.
OREGON: After sitting in the pole position to reach the Pac-12 championship prior to this past weekend, the Ducks suffered a big letdown against Arizona, falling in a 49-16 decision to let the Pac-12 North Division title slip away. The loss was the second in three games for the Ducks, who dropped to No. 12 in the Top 25. Oregon is 9-2 overall and 6-2 against the rest of the Pac-12 with just a game to go. That has them a half-game behind Stanford, which handed Oregon a loss earlier in the season. Marcus Mariota was picked off for the first time this season on his first pass of the game, ending a Pac-12 record, 353-attempt streak without an interception. Mariota had a pair of interceptions in the contest, while throwing for 308 yards and two scores on 27-of-41 passing. Nine different receivers had a reception for the Ducks, led by six for 74 yards from De'Anthony Thomas. THomas also led the team with 83 yards rushing on 16 carries. The 26-point margin of defeat was the largest for the Ducks since 2008. Oregon will try to improve its bowl positing next week in the Civil War against Oregon State.
OREGON STATE: The late-season slide for the Beavers continued on Saturday as they were routed, 69-17, in their final home game of the year by Washington. The Beavers have lost four straight games to fall to 6-5 overall and 4-4 in Pac-12 competition. Brandin Cooks caught 10 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown en route to setting the single-season receiving yards record for Oregon State with 1,560. Sean Mannion threw for 229 yards and a touchdown, but completed less than half of his pass attempts (20-of-41) and was intercepted three times. Mannion completed a pass to nine different receivers and is now second in career passing yards at Oregon State. Storm Woods had a 46-yard reception in the contest, marking the 12th 40-yard pass play for the Beavers this season. Cooks has accounted for nine of those plays. Chris Brown rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on seven carries as the leading rusher. Oregon State allowed 692 yards of total offense against the Huskies and had only three tackles for a loss. The regular season comes to a close next weekend for the Beavers in a rivalry game with Oregon in Eugene.
STANFORD: Ty Montgomery found his way into the end zone five times in leading the Cardinal to a resounding, 63-13, victory over rival California on Saturday. The win, coupled with Oregon's letdown against Arizona, secured the Pac-12 North Division crown for the Cardinal, who finished league play with a record of 7-2. Stanford is 9-2 overall. Stanford scored 42 points in the first half to set a program record for points in a half. Montgomery had 160 yards and four touchdowns through the air on five receptions and also scored a rushing touchdown for the Cardinal. His five scores tied a single-game school record. Kevin Hogan threw five touchdowns and tallied 329 yards through the air on 17-of-26 passing. Hogan is the first quarterback since 1999 to throw for five scores for the Cardinal. Tyler Gaffney rushed for 95 yards and a score on 16 carries, but had a five-game streak with at least 100 yards broken. Trent Murphy added to his NCAA-leading sack total with his 13th on Saturday. Stanford finished with 603 yards of total offense in the victory. Stanford will be out for revenge for a controversial loss a year ago when it faces Notre Dame next week.
UCLA: The Bruins surrendered the Pac-12 South Division title to Arizona State as they were topped, 38-33, by the Sun Devils at the Rose Bowl. The loss ended a three-game win streak for the Bruins, who dropped to third in the league standings with a record of 5-3 against the Pac-12. UCLA trailed, 35-13, at halftime but managed to cut their deficit to just five points in the final quarter. However missed a field goal in the final period and the Bruins failed to score on their final drive of the game. Brett Hundley threw for 253 yards and two scores on 18-of-26 passing but he was intercepted once and sacked nine times. Shaquelle Evans was the top receiver for the Bruins, with 80 yards and a touchdown on six receptions. Myles Jack had a rushing touchdown and 86 yards on 16 carries. UCLA tallied 404 yards of total offense but converted on just 3-of-12 attempts on third down. Next up for UCLA is a matchup with cross-town rival USC with second-place in the South Division on the line.
USC: Ed Orgeron's impressive audition continued as the Trojans rolled to a 47-29 victory over Colorado in their seventh game under the interim head coach.Since taking over on the sidelines following the Trojans' 62-41 loss to Arizona State, Orgeron has gone 6-1 as the head coach for the Trojans, who are 9-3 overall and boasting the second-best record in league play in the South Division (6-2). Javorius Allen led the way for the Trojans, as he rushed for a career-high 145 yards and three touchdowns on 21 rushes. Soma Vainuku also got in on the action with 70 yards and a touchdown on five carries. The big blow for Vainuku was his 52-yard touchdown run at the end of the fourth quarter. Cody Kessler threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 19-of-28 pass attempts. Darreus Rogers had a team-high 56 yards on only three receptions. USC scored touchdowns on all four of its trips to the red zone, while holding the Buffaloes to only 312 yards of total offense. USC gets a shot at cross-town rival UCLA in its next outing.
UTAH: The Utes were let down once again, as they lost in a 49-37 shootout against Washington State. The loss was the fifth straight for the Utes, who fell out of bowl contention with their seventh overall loss of the season. Utah is also sporting just a single win in six chances against the rest of the Pac-12. Utah finished with 481 yards of total offense but allowed 578 to the Cougars, while failing to record a sack. Utah entered the week leading the nation in sacks per game (3.6). Adam Schulz started under center and threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns on 21-of-46 passing but he was also picked off twice. Dres Anderson (five receptions, 129 yards, TD) and Jake Murphy (five receptions, 102 yards, two TDs) each turned in 100-yard receiving efforts. Kelvin York led the Utes on the ground with 94 yards and two scores on 25 carries. The rest of the team had 10 rushes combined. Utah will try to salvage the season a bit next week when it hosts Colorado in the regular-season finale at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
WASHINGTON: In its final road game of the season the Huskies rolled to a 69-27 bashing of Oregon State. The Huskies, who were playing without starting quarterback Keith Price, earned bowl eligibility with the victory and also moved to an even 4-4 in league action. Price, who was sidelined with a sore shoulder, was replaced by Cyler Miles. Miles threw for 162 yards on 15-of-24 passing with one TD. The Huskies didn't need much from the passing game as they racked up 530 yards and seven scores on the ground. The 530 rushing yards were the second most in a single game in program history. Three different backs had at least 140 rushing yards for the Huskies, led by Bishop Sankey, who racked up 179 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries. Deontae Cooper (166 yards, two TDs) and Dwayne Washington (141 yards, two TDs) also got in on the action. Kevin Smith added 73 yards and a touchdown on three receptions as the leading receiver. Washington scored on all six of their red zone chances and converted on 10-of-17 tries on third down, while averaging 9.1 yards per carry. Washington hosts the annual Apple Cup showdown with Washington State next Friday.
WASHINGTON STATE: Connor Halliday had another big game through the air as the Cougars held on for a 49-37 victory over the Utah Utes in their home finale. The win was the second straight for the Cougars, who became bowl eligible for the first time since 2006. The victory also brought the Cougars to an even 4-4 in league action on the campaign. Washington State scored 33 points in the first half, marking their highest output in an opening period since 2003. Halliday racked up 488 yards and four touchdowns on 39-of-62 passing. It was Halliday's 13th career 300-yard passing effort, which is a program record. Dominique Williams had 154 yards and two scores on five receptions to lead 10 receivers that made receptions for the Cougars. At least 10 players have had a reception in nine straight games for the Cougars. Marcus Mason added 88 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions as well as 86 yards on the ground. Damante Horton and Casey Locker returned interceptions for touchdowns in the first quarter, marking the first time since 2009 the Cougars have had two interceptions returned for touchdowns. Deone Bucannon (six tackles) became the first player since 2000 to record 100 tackles in back-to-back seasons. Washington State gets a shot at rival Washington next.
