Blixt leads Soboba by 2

San Jacinto, CA – Jonas Blixt carded a five-under 66 Saturday stroke lead after three rounds of the Soboba Golf Classic.

Blixt, who is going for his first Nationwide Tour title, completed 54 holes at 11-under-par 202.

Ted Potter, Jr. also posted a 66 to move into a share of second place at minus-nine. He was joined there by Tim Wilkinson (70), Matt Every (67) and Cameron Percy (68).

Miguel Angel Carballo and Peter Lonard shared the second round lead at the Country Club at Soboba Springs. Carballo tripped to a one-over 72 to slip to minus-eight, while Lonard struggled to a two-over 73 and fell to seven-under- par 206.

Among those Carballo is tied with in sixth place is J.J. Killeen. The 29-year- old Killeen is one of two players with two victories this season. If Killeen can rally to win this title, he will gain an automatic promotion to the PGA Tour.

Blixt started with four straight pars. He followed a birdie on the par-five fifth with another birdie at the sixth. Blixt parred five in a row around the turn.

The Swede grabbed a share of the lead with his birdie on the par-four 12th. Blixt finally moved out it front with a chip-in birdie on No. 16.

"It was an easy chip up the hill with a little break to it to the left," Blixt explained. "You always have a chance of making it, but that was kind of a bonus there."

He extended his margin to two strokes with an eight-foot birdie putt on the par-five 18th.

"It was a smart round. I felt like I was in control of my game and my emotions today," Blixt stated. "Every time I missed, I missed on the right side. Even if you are in the fairway, its tough to hit the greens out here."

Blixt has soared to 10th on the money list with three top-three finishes in his last five tour starts.

Potter had five birdies, an eagle and a pair of bogeys in his 66, while Every had five birdies and a lone bogey for his 67.

"It was one of my better rounds of the year," Every explained. "I drove it good, didn't make mistakes and made the putts I was supposed to make. Unless you putt like Blixt, four-under is a pretty good score out here."

Wilkinson and Percy both birdied the final two holes to close out their rounds.

NOTES: Blixt leads the tour in both putting average and putts per round...John Mallinger is the only player among the top 18 on the leaderboard that failed to either birdie or eagle the par-five 18th...Mallinger turns 32 and David Branshaw turns 42 on Sunday, while Andrew Buckle celebrated his 29th birthday on Saturday.
