Cincinnati Reds third baseman Scott Rolen will miss the remainder of the season while he continues to recover from arthroscopic surgery on his injured left shoulder.

Rolen met with team medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek Tuesday and was advised to rest the shoulder for the next month.

The 36-year-old has appeared in just 65 games this season, batting .242 with five home runs and 36 RBI.

He was on the disabled list from April 24-May 12 due to the injured left shoulder then landed on the DL on July 22 for what originally was listed as a strained left shoulder.

He underwent surgery on August 3.
