Stanford Cardinal linebacker and leading tackler Shayne Skov will the miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, head coach David Shaw announced Monday.
Skov sustained the injury during Stanford's 37-10 win over Arizona on Saturday. At the 9:14 mark of the second quarter, Wildcats receiver Juron Criner was tackled and fell into Skov's leg, forcing the junior inside linebacker from the game.
Despite missing the entire second half on Saturday, Skov still leads the team with 19 tackles this season. He paced the defense with 84 tackles, including 7 1/2 sacks in 2010, as the Cardinal ended the regular season 11-1 and defeated Virginia Tech, 40-12, in the Orange Bowl.
Stanford, ranked fifth this week, is idle this Saturday before hosting UCLA on October 1.
