Sabres lock up Myers with long-term deal

The Buffalo Sabres and defenseman Tyler Myers year contract extension. The deal, which 19 season, is reportedly worth $38.5 million.

The 6-foot-8, 227-pounder struck for 10 goals and 37 points in 80 games last year, adding one score and six points in a seven-game first-round playoff loss to the Flyers.

Myers, the club's first-round draft choice in 2008, has posted 21 goals and 85 points with a plus-13 rating in 162 games over two NHL campaigns.

The 21-year-old Texas native had one year remaining on his initial three-year entry-level contract, which would have made him a restricted free agent at the end of this season.
