The Colorado Rockies recalled infielder Chris A Colorado Springs and activated pitcher Edgmer Escalona day disabled list Friday.

Nelson, 25, had played in 49 games for the Rockies this season, hitting.231 with nine doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI. He spent the majority of the season with the minor league club, playing in 73 games and hitting .329 with 11 home runs and 65 RBI. Nelson was originally selected by Colorado in the first round of the 2004 draft.

Escalona, 24, is 0-0 with a 2.55 earned run average in seven relief outings for the Rockies this season. He landed on the disabled list August 20 with a right rotator cuff strain.
