Diana Taurasi picked off an errant pass by Sue Bird and made a driving shot with 6.3 seconds left to lift the Phoenix Mercury past the Seattle Storm 81-79 Tuesday night.

Swin Cash missed an 8-footer and Taurasi knocked the ball out with 0.1 seconds left to preserve the win, which snapped Phoenix's nine-game losing streak to the Storm and completed the second-biggest comeback in franchise history.

The Mercury trailed by 18 in the first half, but Taurasi helped them chip away, and scored nine of her 24 points in the fourth quarter.

Bird had 23 points and eight assists for the Storm, which has lost four of five.

Penny Taylor and Candice Dupree each had 16 points for Phoenix, which moved to within four games of first-place Minnesota in the West.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — A sellout crowd came to see Maya Moore return to Connecticut. Tina Charles stole the show with 18 rebounds and scored 16 points.

Connecticut sent Minnesota to its most lopsided loss of the season. It was the largest margin of defeat for the Lynx (18-6) this season, who own the WNBA's best record. Connecticut set a franchise record for regulation scoring.

Renee Montgomery had 17 points and seven assists for Connecticut (16-8) while Kara Lawson had 16 points and made 4 of 5 3-pointers. Asjha Jones had 15 for the Sun and Kelsey Griffin added 14.

Crystal Langhorne scored 25 points for the Mystics (5-17).

Playing in her hometown, The Mystics' Matee Ajavon nailed a clutch 3-pointer with 25.3 seconds left to give the Mystics their first lead of the entire game at 66-65, after trailing by 16 in the first half.

But Pondexter drove the lane against Ajavon, her former Rutgers teammate, and her shot rattled home.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Tamika Catchings scored 26 points to help the Indiana Fever hold off San Antonio.

Danielle Robinson missed a jumped for the Silver Stars with 3.9 seconds left. Jia Perkins' 3-pointer with 41.4 seconds left pulled the Silver Stars within two points, but neither team was able to score after that.

The Fever (18-7) won their third straight game and for the eighth time in their last nine games. Indiana swept the season series against San Antonio after winning 81-68 at home on Aug. 9.

Indiana trailed by four points in the third quarter but held San Antonio to 3 of 17 shooting in the fourth.
