Pirates OF Tabata has broken bone in hand

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jose Tabata has a small fracture in his left wrist.

Tabata had tests performed on Tuesday and was diagnosed with a small avulsion fracture on the dorsal side of the fourth metacarpal of his left hand, according to MLB.com.

He will rest and receive treatment for 10 days to allow the bone to heal, the website said.

The Venezuela native batted .266 with four home runs, 21 RBI and 53 runs scored in 91 games for the Pirates this season. He missed significant time with an injured left quad.
