The St. Louis Cardinals activated Nick Punto day disabled list on Tuesday.

Punto missed 36 games after being placed on the DL July 29 with a strained left oblique. His 2011 campaign has also been interrupted by a sports hernia and right forearm injuries.

The 33-year-old is batting .271 with 13 RBI in 47 games for the Cardinals.

A versatile infielder, Punto has made 21 starts at second base, three at third base and three at shortstop.
