Report: Jets backup QB McElroy sidelined after surgery

New York, NY – New York Jets quarterback Greg McElroy reportedly underwent thumb surgery on Friday and could be sidelined for a few weeks.

McElroy was hurt during Thursday's preseason finale against the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Daily News cited a source as saying that he underwent a procedure Friday morning for a dislocated right thumb.

The Jets selected the former Alabama star in the seventh round of April's draft.
