The San Diego Padres made numerous roster moves prior to Friday's game against the Colorado Rockies.

The club claimed right-handed pitcher Drew Carpenter off outright waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies, recalled catcher Luis Martinez from Triple-A Tucson, recalled right-handed pitcher Evan Scribner from Tucson and placed him on the 60-day disabled list with a right-shoulder strain and outrighted catcher Kyle Phillips to Tucson.

The 26-year-old Carpenter went 0-0 with a 7.71 ERA and 10 strikeouts against four walks over six relief appearances for Philadelphia this season. He went 5-1 with a 1.79 ERA, a .213 opponents batting average and 65 strikeouts against 11 walks in 34 relief outings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley this year.

Martinez will make his third stint with San Diego this year. In 13 games for San Diego this year, he has hit .263 with a triple, a home run, 10 RBI and five runs scored.

Scribner posted a 7.07 ERA over 10 relief appearances with the Padres this season.

Phillips hit .171 with three doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs scored in 36 games for San Diego this year.
