Canonsburg, PA – For Kevin Kisner, this is deja vu.
For the Nationwide Tour, it might be something it's never seen before.
Kisner set a course record at Southpointe Golf Club on Friday with a nine- under 62 and has a good chance to defend his title at the Mylan Classic after two rounds of play.
He's missed the cut in 18 of 29 events since winning the 2010 Mylan Classic by a stroke, but at 13-under 129, Kisner has a two-stroke lead and an opportunity to make history as the first player on tour to win an event two years in a row.
If Kisner didn't start out slowly, he could have challenged the magic number of 59, but he didn't get into red figures until the seventh hole. He played the final 12 holes at nine-under, including a closing eagle on the par-four 18th.
There were no weather delays Friday after a lengthy delay Thursday pushed the opening round into a second day. A total of 57 players had to finish their first 18 holes early in the morning, but second-round play got underway soon after without a hitch.
Trying to derail Kisner's shot at history is Gary Christian, whose eight-under 63 put him in second place at 11-under 131. First-round leader Josh Broadaway (68) fell into a share of third with Scott Brown (64) and Billy Hurley III (65) at minus-10.
J.J. Killeen needs to make up some ground if he is to challenge for his third win of the year. Killeen sits seven shots off the pace at six-under, but easily made the cut.
