Cleveland Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera left Friday's game against the Royals due to injury.

Cabrera fouled a ball off his left knee -- near the kneecap -- during the top of the third. He remained in the game and hit a two-run homer later in the at- bat to give the Indians a 4-0 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, Cabrera removed himself from the field. Jason Donald switched from second base to shortstop and Cord Phelps entered in Cabrera's stead.

In 133 games this season, Cabrera is batting .278 with 21 home runs, 80 RBI and 79 runs scored for the Indians, who trailed the AL Central-leading Tigers by 5 1/2 games entering Friday's action.
