The Cincinnati Reds reinstated outfielder day disabled list Thursday, while making numerous ups from the minors.

Heisey had been out with a strained left oblique muscle, which he suffered during batting practice in Houston. The 26-year-old is hitting .249 with 12 homers and 38 runs batted in over 97 games this season.

Also on Thursday, when active major league rosters can start accommodating 40 players, the Reds recalled infielders Juan Francisco and Chris Valaika, and pitchers Jared Burton, Carlos Fisher, Jeremy Horst and Matt Maloney from Triple-A Louisville.

Cincinnati also selected the contract of catcher Devin Mesoraco from Louisville. Mesoraco was the Reds' first-round pick in the 2007 draft, and has hit .289 with a .371 on-base percentage, 15 homers and 71 RBI in 120 games at Louisville this season.

The Reds also outrighted outfielder Fred Lewis to Louisville.
