The Texas Rangers acquired pitcher Michael Gonzalez from the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named later and catcher Matt Treanor from the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations Wednesday.

Gonzalez has made 49 appearances out of the bullpen for Baltimore this season and carries a 2-2 record with a 4.27 ERA and one save.

Treanor is hitting .226 with a .351 on-base percentage, six doubles, three homers and 21 runs batted in through 65 games for the Royals.

The Rangers currently sit 3 1/2 games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for first place in the AL West.
