Calcavecchia gets 1st Champions Tour win

Mark Calcavecchia defeated Russ Cochran on the first playoff hole Sunday to get his first Champions Tour victory at the Boeing Classic.

Calcavecchia got a measure of revenge on Cochran. At this year's Senior British Open, Cochran beat Calcavecchia on Sunday to win the major championship.

Calcavecchia and Cochran both fired rounds of seven-under 65 and tied at 14- under 202. Calcavecchia birdied his final three holes in regulation, including a pitch-in at 16, a downhill 25-footer at 17 and a two-putt from 30 feet at the last.

Cochran eagled the par-five 18th to force the extra session, but had trouble with a bunker and could do no better than bogey in the playoff. Calcavecchia made birdie and got his first win since the 2007 PODS Championship on the PGA Tour.

Chip Beck shot a four-under 68 on Sunday and took a distant third at nine- under 207 at the TPC Snoqualmie Ridge.

Jeff Sluman, who shared the second-round lead with Calcavecchia, Cochran and Kenny Perry, posted a one-under 71 and came in fourth at minus-eight.

Perry only managed an even-par 72 and shared fifth place with Bob Gilder, who carded a two-under 70 on Sunday, at seven-under 209.
