Anderson wins Canadian Tour Championship in playoff

Windsor, ON – Stuart Anderson defeated local favorite Richard Scott on the second playoff hole Sunday to win the Canadian Tour Championship.

Anderson's win on Sunday was his second at this championship. He titled at this event in 2006 and this victory was his fourth all-time on the Canadian Tour.

"I draw back on those experiences," said Anderson. "I love this game. I really hope I can do it the rest of my life."

Anderson fired a final-round, six-under 65, while Scott, a third-round co- leader, managed a four-under 67. The pair finished regulation at 21-under 263 before Anderson walked off with the title.

Anderson, who holed a long birdie putt at the 16th, missed a two-footer on the first playoff hole to give Scott life. Anderson sank a 25-footer for birdie on the second hole to give him the victory.

"I was fortunate enough watching Richard's putt on the first playoff hole," said Anderson. "His broke a lot so I got to see it. I hit my line and it went in."

Garrett Sapp shot a three-under 68 and took third at 19-under 265.

Joel Dahmen (64) and Tyler Harris (66) shared fourth at minus-17 at Ambassador Golf Club.

Erick Justesen, who fired a course-record-tying 62 in round two, was the other third-round co-leader, but he struggled to a one-over 72 on Sunday. He tied for sixth with Roger Sloan, who had a 69 in the final round, at 16-under-par 268.

The top-two players on the Order of Merit following this week's championship earned invitations to the second stage of PGA Tour Q School.

Jose de Jesus Rodriguez, despite a tie for 62nd, finished first, followed by Hugo Leon, who tied for 29th.

NOTES: Anderson admitted his bank account was in the negative until this win due to paying for PGA Tour Q School...Anderson pocketed $32,000 for the victory...He's playing Hooters Tour events in South Carolina the next two weeks.
