Washington Redskins rookie defensive end Jarvis Jenkins will apparently miss the 2011 season after suffering a torn ACL during Thursday's preseason game against Baltimore.

Jenkins was hurt in the first quarter while trying to make a tackle on Baltimore's Ray Rice. He underwent an MRI exam and disclosed the severity of his injury via Twitter.

"Redskin fans thanks for the support I love you all...unfortunately it is a ACL tear," Jenkins tweeted.

The Redskins selected Jenkins in the second round of April's draft after a standout collegiate career at Clemson. He was a First-Team All-ACC selection as a senior in 2010 when he amassed 51 tackles, including nine for a loss.
