Celtic earns convincing win over Dundee United

Celtic recorded a convincing win Saturday 1 to remain perfect through three Scottish Premier League games.

The dominating performance saw five different scorers for Celtic with the goals coming staggered throughout the course of the match.

Anthony Stokes set the tone for the match, getting Celtic off the mark in the fourth minute with his second goal of the SPL season.

Dundee was able to get an equalizer in the 31st minute through Johnny Russell, but Gary Cooper quickly put Celtic back in front, responding with a goal in the 33rd minute.

Ki Sung-Yueng extended the lead for Celtic, recording his second goal of the season in the 58th minute. Joe Ledley added another in the 71st minute before James Forrest wrapped up the scoring in the 90th minute.

With the win, Celtic remains perfect in SPL play, taking nine points from three games.

This was Dundee's first lost of the early season. The club has taken five points from its opening four matches.

Rangers 2, Inverness 0

Inverness, Scotland - Rangers moved up to third place in the Scottish Premier League with Saturday's 2-0 win over Inverness.

Inverness went down to ten men when Ross Tokely was sent off in the 58th minute, but the advantage was short-lived for Rangers as Maurice Edu was sent off in the 75th minute.

But the damage had been done, as Rangers tallied two goals in between the dismissals to claim all three points.

Nikica Jelavic had two penalty kicks in the second half, just eight minutes apart. He converted the first in the 60th minute and missed the second, but Edu was able to score from the rebound to extend the lead for Rangers and secure the win.

Hearts 3, Aberdeen 0

Edinburgh, Scotland - Hearts earned its first win of the new season, defeating a struggling Aberdeen side 3-0 on Saturday at Tynecastle Stadium.

A brace from John Sutton and an additional goal from Arvydas Novikovas secured the win and three points for Hearts.

Novikovas opened the scoring in the 24th minute with Sutton adding his first ten minutes later.

Sutton extended the lead in the second half with his 51st minute goal, completing the rout and his brace.

St Johnstone 0, Dunfermline 1

Perth, Scotland - Dunfermline escaped McDiarmid Park on Saturday with a 1-0 win over St Johnstone.

Andy Kirk's 30th minute strike ultimately earned three points for Dunfermline, but not without some nervy moments.

Dunfermline were forced to play with ten men following John Potter's sending off. Liam Craig then missed a penalty three minutes later, failing to capitalize on the advantage.

St Mirren 0, Motherwall 1

Paisley, Scotland - Motherwall earned a dramatic win over St Mirren on Saturday to remain in first place in the Scottish Premier League.

Tom Hateley recorded the only goal of the game during injury time in the second half to earn three points for Motherwall in an impressive road victory.

The win gives Motherwall ten points from four matches and keeps it ahead of Celtic in the SPL table. St Mirren sits in fifth place with five points from four matches.
