Seattle returns home to face Chivas

Seattle Sounders FC will return home to CenturyLink Field for the first time in almost a month as the club hosts Chivas USA in a Saturday afternoon Major League Soccer fixture.

The Sounders had their nine-game unbeaten streak snapped by the Houston Dynamo on July 30th, but they rebounded in dramatic fashion by defeating Sporting Kansas City 2-1 the following week through injury time goals from Mauro Rosales and Lamar Neagle.

Neagle commented after the match about the resounding spirit in the Sounders team.

"You can tell that our effort is always there," Neagle said. "At the end of the game we're still striving to get that win no matter what the score is even though we're down one or whatever it is, we still come back.

"We've gone down a goal many times, but we always seem to fight back and win the game, and that's what happened."

Seattle, 6-1-1 in its last eight regular season matches, has accumulated 41 points on the season to occupy third place in the Western Conference, just one point behind the second place FC Dallas.

Chivas has seen improvement in the last month and a half, going 3-1-3 in its last seven MLS matches. With 29 points on the season, the club sits in sixth place in the West.

In its last outing, Chivas defeated the New England Revolution 3-2 behind an Alejandro Moreno brace with an additional goal tacked on by Nick LaBrocca.

"Coming off of my trip to Copa America, I felt pretty strong and confident of what I've been doing on the field," Moreno said after the contest. "I felt good during the match, I felt dangerous so I was moving fairly well, then I was able to take advantage of two great balls by Ante [Jazic] and by Nick [LaBrocca] and was able to finish."

The match against Seattle will mark the halfway point of a 5-game road trip for Chivas, with contests at the Colorado Rapids and Portland Timbers in the coming weeks.

This is the first meeting for Chivas and Seattle in 2011. Last season, they played to a scoreless draw in August, but the Sounders won the rematch 2-1 with goals from Steve Zakuani and Osvaldo Alonso.
