The Buffalo Sabres have signed backup goalie Jhonas Enroth to a multi-year deal, the club announced Thursday.
Enroth, who turned 23 last month, appeared in 14 NHL games for the Sabres this past season. He had a 2.73 goals against average and a 9-2-2 record, recording both his first NHL win and first career shutout in 2010-11 after appearing in just one game during the 2009-10 season.
The Stockholm, Sweden native made NHL history Feb. 15 with a 3-2 shootout victory at Montreal, becoming the first goaltender ever to record each of his first three career wins in a shootout.
Enroth played 41 regular-season games for the Portland Pirates (AHL) during the 2010-11 season, posting a 20-17-2 record and a 2.78 goals against average. He went 1-2 with a 2.27 goals against average in the Calder Cup playoffs.
