The Winnipeg Jets and Florida Panthers swapped former first-round picks who have yet to reach their potential Saturday.

Winnipeg sent Angelo Esposito, a first-round choice by Pittsburgh in 2007, to Florida for Kenndal McArdle, who was a first-round selection by the Panthers in 2005.

McArdle has 1 goals and three points in 33 career NHL games. He had 14 goals, 26 points and 106 penalty minutes in 54 games for Rochester of the AHL last season. He won the Memorial Cup with the Vancouver Giants in 2007 and the 2007 world junior championships with Canada.

Esposito was once considered the best player in the world in his age bracket. He was a contender to be picked No. 1 overall but ended up at No. 20 with the Penguins in 2007. They traded him to Atlanta as part of the package for Marian Hossa during the next season.

Esposito had 3 goals and 13 points in 57 games for Chicago of the AHL last season. He won the Memorial Cup with Quebec in 2006.
