The New York Rangers signed restricted free agent defenseman Michael Sauer to a two-year, $2.5 million contract Friday, according to a New York Post report.

Sauer had 3 goals and 12 assists in 76 games last season, his first full one in the NHL. The 23-year-old from St. Cloud, Minn., played mostly with fellow rookie defenseman Ryan McDonagh as the Rangers' No. 2 defense pairing. He also was a plus-20, the best rating on the Rangers and fourth-best among League rookies

The Rangers have four remaining RFAs to sign, forwards Brandon Dubinsky, Ryan Callahan, Brian Boyle and Artem Anisimov.
