Four member of the Rangers among 22 players filing for salary arbitration

TORONTO - The New York Rangers may have won the Brad Richards sweepstakes, but they still have some work to do to fill out their roster.

Of the 22 players who filed for salary arbitration Tuesday, four were Rangers, including centres Brian Boyle and Brandon Dubinsky, right-winger Ryan Callahan and defenceman Michael Sauer.

Montreal Canadiens defenceman Josh Gorges also filed, as did Edmonton Oilers centre Andrew Cogliano, Vancouver Canucks right-winger Jannik Hansen, Winnipeg Jets right-winger Blake Wheeler, Nashville Predators right-winger Sergei Kostitsyn and Tampa Bay Lightning right-winger Teddy Purcell.

Once an arbitrator makes a ruling on a case, the team is given the choice to accept the one-year contract or walk away and let the player become an unrestricted free agent. The Atlanta Thrashers declined a $2.4-million ruling awarded to Clarke MacArthur last summer and he ended up taking $1.4 million to sign in Toronto.

Other players filing Tuesday include Anaheim's Dan Sexton, Buffalo's Andrej Sekera, Carolina's Derek Joslin, Chicago's Chris Campoli and Viktor Stalberg, Colorado's Kevin Porter and Ryan Wilson, Los Angeles' Alec Martinez and Brad Richardson, New Jersey's Mark Fraser, the New York Islanders' Blake Comeau and Phoenix's Lauri Korpikoski.

The deadline for club-elected salary arbitration notification is Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. ET. Hearings will be held in Toronto from July 20 to August.
