Nalbandian ruled out of Argentina's Davis quarter-final

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Argentine number two David Nalbandian has been ruled out of the Davis Cup quarter-final at home to Kazakhstan next week with a groin injury, the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) said Saturday.

The place left vacant by Nalbandian, one of Argentina's two preferred singles players along with Juan Martin del Potro, has been filled by doubles specialist Eduardo Schwank. Juan Ignacio Chela and Juan Monaco are the other players in the team.

"It's a serious loss. It was a luxury to be able to count on David," Argentina's captain Modesto Vazquez said at his team's practice at the match venue in Parque Roca.

The last time Nalbandian and Del Potro were both in the team was the 2008 final which Argentina lost at home to Spain in Mar de Plata.

The tie at Parque Roca on the outskirts of Buenos Aires will be played from Thursday to Saturday because of municipal elections Sunday of next week. The other three ties are scheduled for July 8-10.
