Porto's Andre Villas-Boas heading to Chelsea

LONDON – Andre Villas-Boas is set to become Chelsea's seventh manager in eight years after resigning as coach of Portuguese champion Porto.

The English Premier League club confirmed its interest in Villas-Boas after a reported $21.5 million exit fee was paid to release him from his Porto contract.

Chelsea has been without a manager since Carlo Ancelotti was fired minutes after the team's final game last season. At 33, Villas-Boas would be the youngest current manager in the Premier League.

Porto President Jorge Pinto da Costa says he is not surprised by the move, particularly after the coach made a recent trip to London. Porto assistant Vitor Pereira will succeed Villas-Boas.
