COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenceman Grant Clitsome to a two-year contract, the club announced Friday.

The 26-year-old registered four goals and 15 assists in 31 games with the Blue Jackets in 2010-11.

"We are pleased to have Grant signed for two more years," Columbus general manager Scott Howson said in a release. "He is a great example of a player we drafted who has patiently developed at the collegiate and AHL levels and become a solid, dependable NHL defenceman."

Taken by Columbus 271st overall in the 2004 entry draft, Clitsome made his NHL debut in 2009-10 with a goal and two assists in 11 games.

The Ottawa native, who played four seasons at Clarkson University where he had 16 goals and 57 assists in 150 games, was set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
