Bruins' Ference fined $2,500 for obscene gesture

TORONTO (Reuters) - Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference has been fined $2,500 for making an obscene gesture to the crowd during Game Four against the Montreal Canadiens, the NHL said on Friday.

Ference pointed the middle finger of his left hand at the crowd after scoring a goal to trim Montreal's lead to 3-2 midway through the second period at the Bell Centre on Thursday.

The Bruins ended up winning the game 5-4 in overtime to level the best-of-seven Eastern Conference series at 2-2.

Ference's fine will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
