GLENDALE Ariz. – Martin Hanzal, Phoenix’s top two-way center, will be back in the lineup Friday night for the Coyotes as they attempt to clinch a Stanley Cup playoff berth against the San Jose Sharks.
Hanzal has missed 14 of the last 15 games with a back injury and hasn’t played since scoring the game-tying goal in a 5-4 shootout win over Detroit on March 5. Hanzal has played only 59 games this season, but still ranks among the team’s top scorers with 16 goals – five of them game-winners – and 26 points. He is also one of Phoenix’s top faceoff men and penalty killers.
With Hanzal ready, the Coyotes will have all their players healthy and ready to play for the first time since Jan. 18. They need one more point to assure themselves of a playoff berth for the second year in a row.
