There's an abundance of playoff spots that could be clinched tonight in both conferences.
In the East, the Philadelphia Flyers can wrap up the Atlantic Division with a victory against the Ottawa Senators and a loss by the Pittsburgh Penguins to the New Jersey Devils in either regulation, overtime or a shootout. The Flyers also can clinch the division by earning one point and having the Penguins lose to the Devils in regulation.
The Washington Capitals can grab their fourth straight Southeast Division title by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs or with a Tampa Bay Lightning regulation loss to the Buffalo Sabres. The Caps also can clinch by getting one point and having the Lightning lose to Sabres in regulation, overtime or a shootout.
Out West, the Phoenix Coyotes and Los Angeles Kings can have their tickets punched for the postseason without picking up a stick. The Coyotes get in if the Dallas Stars lose to the Columbus Blue Jackets in regulation, overtime or a shootout; the Kings are in if the Stars lose in regulation.
The Nashville Predators can return to the playoffs with a win against the Atlanta Thrashers coupled with a Stars loss. The Predators also can clinch by grabbing one point and having the Stars lose in regulation.
