Alex Ovechkin became the sixth-youngest player in NHL history to reach 300 goals when he scored 11:28 into the first period of Washington's game at Toronto on Tuesday night.

Ovechkin blasted a power-play one-timer from inside the left circle past Leafs goaltender James Reimer to reach the milestone and tie the game at 1-1.

At 25 years and 200 days, Ovechkin reached 300 goals fastest than everyone except Wayne Gretzky (22 years, 321 days), Mario Lemieux, (23, 179), Dale Hawerchuk (24, 308), Mike Bossy (25, 60) and Steve Yzerman (25, 176).

Ovechkin scored No. 300 in his 476th NHL game, the seventh-fewest ever. Gretzky was the fastest, scoring his 300th goal in career game No. 350. He's followed by Lemieux (368th game), Brett Hull (377), Bossy (381), Jari Kurri (441) and current Anaheim forward Teemu Selanne (464).
