DENVER, Colorado (Reuters) - Colorado's high-scoring forward Paul Stastny will miss the remainder of the NHL season with a leg injury, the Avalanche announced in a statement on Sunday.
Stastny injured his right leg in Friday's shootout win over Phoenix and finishes the season with 22 goals and 35 assists for the Avalanche, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
"Further examination revealed a stress fracture in his leg," Avalanche team physician Dr. Andrew Parker told reporters. "At this time, the decision was made to shut him down for the rest of the regular season."
Stastny, in his fifth year with the Avs, reached his first NHL All Star game in January.
