Indians outfielder Trevor Crowe has undergone right shoulder surgery and will be sidelined for at least four months.

Crowe had the operation on his shoulder Wednesday at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery, the Indians said. The 27-year-old will return to Cleveland on Saturday to begin rehabilitation.

Crowe was called up from Triple-A Columbus last May when center fielder Grady Sizemore went down with a season-ending knee injury. He batted .252 with two homers, 36 RBIs and 20 steals in 122 games.

Crowe's injury opened the door for free agent Travis Buck to make the Indians' roster this spring.
